Carlisle Indian School life was modeled after military life. Uniforms were issued for the boys, the girls dressed in Victorian-style dresses.
Shoes were required, as no moccasins were allowed. The boys and girls were organized into companies with officers who took charge of drill.
Carlisle Indian School children marched to and from their classes, and to the dining hall for meals. No one was allowed to speak their native tongue. With education increasingly becoming the primary determinant of overall development in the emerging knowledge economy,
Carlisle Indian School, Discipline was strictly enforced - military style. There was regular drill practice and the children were ranked, with the officers in command. A court system was organized in the hierarchical style of a military justice system, with students determining the consequences for offenses.
An ambitious printing program was developed at the St Labre Indian School and the school newspapers were popular among the local folk, available at the post office and by subscription throughout the country.
This became a small source of income to supplement funding by the government, which was always inadequate. The publications also provided St Labre Indian School with a platform from which to publicize his experiment and perpetuate his views on education.
In St Labre Indian School education is a methodical effort towards learning basic facts about humanity. And the core idea behind value education is to cultivate essential values in the students so that the civilization that teaches us to manage complexities can be sustained and further developed. It begins at home and it is continued in schools.
According to American Education system students who have completed high school and would like to attend college or university must attend what is referred to as an undergraduate school. These are schools that offer either a two-year degree (called an associate degree) or a four-year degree (called a bachelors degree) in a specific course of study. That course of study is called the major.
While most American Education system schools that offer a four-year degree will admit students who have not yet chosen a major, all students are required to select (or declare) a major by their second year at school.
Students of American Education system who complete an associate degree can continue their education at a four-year school and eventually complete a bachelor degree
