Riverside Indian School presently has students from dozens of Indian nations attending grades four through twelve. Admission requires a Certified Degree of Indian Blood.
School board of education, administration, staff, and faculty are predominantly American Indian. The State of the North Central Association of Secondary Schools and Elementary Schools accredit the school, which offers numerous specialized academic programs. Riverside Indian School athletic department is governed by the rules and regulations of the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activity Association.
Riverside Indian School is a part of the Bureau of Indian Affairs federal boarding school system that originated with Carlisle Indian Industrial School. Approximately six hundred students were enrolled at School board during the early twenty-first century. We have, therefore, evolved a strategy to prepare our students for these new challenges. Guiding each student to achieve his true potential is our first and overriding aim.
I have been involved with the School directory very inception. Taking the vision of our Founder, and turning it into the physical reality of a school was an exceptional challenge and opportunity. School directory feel very proud that the school we have created is unique, beautiful and exceptionally well-equipped.
Overseeing the building of the physical environment of the School directory has not been the end of my task. Indeed I realize that a school is far more than just buildings and that a truly successful school is one where staff, students and parents come together to form a complete and harmonious community. My experience tells me that this is something which can only be achieved if it is renewed each and every day.
Now my task is to supervise the financial, administrative and daily running of the school. As the School board grows and develops, my role evolves. Once I helped to establish the school by acquiring land and build, now I am helping to build something more precious: a community with shared aims, beliefs and ambitions.
However, we also ensure that every School board develops tolerance and understanding of others and the personal responsibility needed to turn these virtues into positive and caring action. These characteristics are developed in every student both within the classroom and outside of it to ensure that our students emerge as well-rounded citizens able to achieve balance in all aspects of their lives.
