Public high schools are taught (or at least were) using a different theology of teaching that is similar to programs taught in some European countries.
Choosing how and where to educate a child is a hugely difficult decision and whatever choice is made it does not guarantee that a child’s formative years will go incident free.
On a sour note, the school, being so new, comes with limited history and tradition. Hopefully that is all changing, but one of the biggest downsides of north side when I attended was that it never really felt like a high school.
Because I transferred in, I had a basis for comparison, but I suppose if you started there you would think that was how it was supposed to be

Academic-wise, it is a Public high schools and will prepare you/your kids for college. All classes are honors and AP and the curriculum is meant to challenge.
Preparatory schools for the most part the teaching staff was pretty great.
The fine arts program had a lot to offer and there were extensive English elective courses.
The environment was pretty friendly and accepting and the administration seemed to value student input. However, talking to some parents still serving
The board... CPS politics have finally taken over the Public high schools and they said that things aren't quite the same on the administrative front... inevitable i guess.
